The craft
Quiet lines, careful proportions
The elegant version is the one where I take detail away. No loud hardware, no heavy moldings, just a long low case in black oak with fronts that line up and a reveal that runs true from end to end. Restraint like that only works when the fit is right, so the doors are hung and adjusted by hand.
It is still a working media console. The top carries the television, the interior takes upright records or components, and cable routing is cut in behind. The black finish is rubbed into the wood so the oak grain shows through and the piece reads soft in evening light instead of flat.
