The craft
Red oak and the Brasilia curve
Red oak has a stronger, more open grain than walnut, so the sculpted Brasilia fronts read differently on this piece. The carving catches the grain lines and gives the doors a rhythm that changes as you move past them. I sand through several grits by hand so that pattern stays crisp instead of muddy.
The case is sized for media: a wide top for the television, interior bays that take vinyl upright or hold components with air around them, and cable routing cut in before the finish goes on. Solid oak legs and eased edges keep the whole thing light on its feet.
